Defibtech Lifeline: the 5- and 7-year standby figures assume a 9V ASI battery is also fitted inside the unit. Replacing the main pack without the 9V leaves a gap in the self-test system.
HeartSine: there is no separate battery. The Pad-Pak is a combined pads-and-battery cartridge with a single 4-year expiry — replacing "the battery" means replacing the whole cartridge.
Most sit between four and seven years of standby life, and the number that matters is the install-by date printed on the battery, not the date you bought it. A battery that has been in a warehouse for a year arrives with a year already gone.
Standby life also assumes normal conditions. Batteries in unheated garages, outdoor cabinets, vehicles or job-site trailers work harder and don't last as long. If your AED lives somewhere cold, check it more often than the label suggests.
AED batteries are lithium and classed as dangerous goods for transport, which is why they ship under specific handling rules and why DG-rated batteries can't be returned once dispatched. Order the right one first — the compatibility table above, or a phone call, will make sure you do.

Most AED batteries carry four to seven years of standby life depending on brand and model. Replace by the install-by date printed on the battery, or immediately after any use of the device.
We only sell genuine OEM batteries. Third-party cells may not meet the device's discharge requirements, can void the manufacturer's warranty, and in some cases won't be recognised by the AED's self-test at all. On a life-safety device, it isn't worth the saving.
Yes. The M5070A is shared across the HeartStart OnSite, Home and FRx. It's one of the few genuine cross-model parts in this category — note that the pads for those models are not interchangeable.
Most often the pads are also expired, or the battery wasn't seated fully. On Defibtech Lifeline units, check the separate 9V ASI battery as well. If it's still chirping after all three, call us — don't leave a beeping AED on the wall.
