AED Inspections & Service — Calgary and Edmonton
An AED on the wall isn't the same as an AED that will work. Pads expire. Batteries drain. Status indicators get missed for months. Inspections exist to close the gap between owning a defibrillator and actually being ready to use one.
Shock Shop inspects AEDs on site in Calgary and Edmonton, on any brand — ZOLL, Philips, Defibtech, HeartSine, Cardiac Science and Physio-Control.
What we check
- Device status — self-test indicator, visible damage, casing and connectors
- Battery — install-by date, remaining service life, seating
- Electrode pads — expiry date, seal integrity, correct pads for the model, adult and pediatric
- Accessories — response kit contents, spare pads, cabinet condition, alarm function
- Placement — signage visible, unit accessible, cabinet unobstructed
- Documentation — inspection tag updated and dated, with a written record you can produce for an auditor or a health and safety committee
Why it matters
Every minute that passes without defibrillation reduces the chance of survival. That is the entire reason a routine inspection matters — the device only helps if it is charged, in date, and where people expect to find it. Most workplace AEDs that fail do so because a consumable expired quietly, not because the unit broke.
Many workplaces are also required to inspect and document AED readiness under provincial occupational health and safety rules or their own program policy. We leave you the paperwork either way.
