The Defbitech Lifeline requires a 9V battery in order for the unit to operate properly in stand-by mode. While in stand-by mode, the AED will do checks at pre-determined intervals and provide audible and visual warnings in a number of cases including: pads which are not connected, low operating battery (the larger yellow one) and even software malfunction.
